Latest extract from “The Adelaide to Adelaide Adventure” in Australia
8 March marks the start of the Great Ocean Road section of the journey…. First stop was the 12 Apostles, which are now down to about eight or nine as the sea continues its job of eroding the cliffs. The guys were stunned at the spectacle, as was I (Colin), despite having been here many times in the past. In fact I’d been coming here back when there were at least 11 Apostles, making me feel a little old…… Click here for more

IAM Surety Car Scheme now includes 19 & 20 year olds!
Adelaide Insurance Services has agreed with RSA that they will guarantee the full IAM Surety package with equally competitive prices for (IAM) UK drivers 19 to 21. The only additional condition for this age group is that they will not be eligible if they drive vehicles with an insurance group higher than 28 under the new ABI Group Ratings (Old Group Ratings 11/12) From 21 upwards the IAM Surety deal remains the same i.e. up to 79 years old. (Remember if you fall outside this age group, we do deal with a number of quality UK insurers and will endeavour to find you car insurance outside of this scheme).
This is an exceptional scheme for members both in terms of price and cover and highly unlikely to be equalled anywhere in the market.

And they’re off on the OZ adventure!
It was our first evening in Adelaide, and Colin led the way into the city centre park for what was promised to be an unprecedented firework display to mark the start of the Adelaide Arts Festival and …..promptly lost me! When Colin finally appeared with a cheery grin an hour later…….. “First rule of biking in pairs, if you go through a bloody amber light, check in the mirror to see if your mate’s stuck at the red light, then bloody well stop and wait for him,” I said, strangling him just as cheerily. “Sorry about that, mate. Kent Advanced Motorcyclists 30th birthday this year!
Kent are the first motorcycle group approved by the IAM and are planning to meet as many of the groups who followed their lead, by riding around Britain including Northern Ireland during the week of 12th – 19th June 2010 promoting safer biking starting and finishing at Brands Hatch. During this ride they will also be raising funds for children in need and spinal research. It is planned that groups of six riders each (green badge holders) will take part. Adelaide supports two riders on the motorcycling trip of a lifetime!
You’ll be hearing more about the “Adelaide to Adelaide Adventure” as Geoff Hill sets off on another biking adventure, this time with fellow journalist and author Colin O’Carroll who will circumnavigate Australia, starting and ending in Adelaide using the legendary Highway One before the road is decommissioned taking 10-12 weeks to cover the 15,000 miles. 41 Bikers successfully completed the FREE BikeSafe assessments at Phillip McCallen Motorcycles.

Many bikers who successfully complete the BikeSafe assessment go on to complete the IAM safety assessment too.

Adelaide launches new product in the Republic of Ireland
As of now, Adelaide is the officially appointed motorcycle and car insurer for the Institute of Advanced Motorists (I.A.M.) in the Republic of Ireland. This follows Adelaide’s success in the UK as the I.A.M.’s official insurance provider. Trading under the brand name of IAM Surety, the aim is to give members the insurance deal they deserve as Advanced and therefore safer riders and/ or drivers. It’s supposed to be the world’s highest jeep able road in the world (altitude 4,112 m). The army closed the road at the top as there was “activity” 20 miles away in Tibet!

Adelaide staff climb Slieve Donard & raise £1200 for charity! Slieve Donard is the highest mountain in Northern Ireland, at 2,786 ft. The mountain is close to the small seaside town of Newcastle on the east coast. Most of the group had never climbed Slieve Donard before, yet 24 staff reached the top! Each staff member raised £25 and Adelaide contributed a further £25 resulting in a donation of £1200 to The Ireland Air Ambulance. | |

Isle of Man TT star John McGuinness and ex-British and Irish motorcross champion Gordon Crockard were the special guests at the launch of the Adelaide Motorcycle Festival 09, to be held at the Kings Hall, Belfast Feb 13 -15. The festival is off to a good start as there’s been a tremendous response from the manufacturers and dealers - all but one of the dealers from 2008 have agreed to be at the festival again with their 2009 models.

Double celebration for Adelaide!

BikeSafe’s aim is to reduce the number of motorcycle accident casualties by promoting safer riding with a FREE assessment of your riding skills; this only takes an hour. As safer bikers, both Ryan and John earned themselves additional discounts on their motorcycle insurance from Adelaide Insurance Services on the day as do motorcyclists who successfully complete BikeSafe or IAM programmes.

Our relationship with Robert goes back many years and we recall when he officially opened Adelaide’s premises on 15 Sept. 2000. Pictured here at the opening:
